ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

 

1. 1. The Centre was established in June 1988 Under UGC
   2. One of the oldest centres in Karnataka funded by UGC
   3. Initiated by Prof. Prabha Mahale, Dept of Anthropology, KUD
   4. Initiated P.G. Diploma course in 1992 and onwards
   5. Successfully completed 29 years of existence fulfilling the 03 main objectives of Research Centre i.e. teaching, research and extension.
2. 6. Started P.G. Programme in Women’s Studies in the year 2015 onwards.
   7. The centre has moved from phase I to Phase II in the year 2016,the UGC grant   extended.
3. 8. An independent department of Women’s Studies is approved by the appropriate  bodies of Karnatak University and the department statutes are sent for government approval.
