Inter religious prayer meetings and training on meditation and Yoga is undertaken on regular basis. Exhibition and sale of Khadi is taken up on Gandhi Jayanti and Punyatithi. Students and Staff in the Department are encouraged to wear Khadi dress. Field Training is an annual regular feature. Seminars and workshops are conducted regularly on Gandhiji’s Birth and Death anniversaries. Special programmes to commemorate the 150^th Birth Anniversary of Gandhiji were inaugurated. On the advice of Central Government an oath is taken to maintain world peace by the students, staff and other invitees ever since Gandhiji’s Birth Anniversary was recognised as the International Day of Non-violence by UNO.The Department actively assisted all the activities of N.S.S. and N.C.C. Camps held in Gandhi Bhavan. In some of these programmes Dr. S. V. Shettar has acted as resource person. He actively associated himself with the Department of Forestry in the a forestation programmes. So also he  has acted as venue coordinator in organizing the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival. He was actively assisted by Dr. S. B. Bashetti in all the aforesaid activities.
