The Department of Marathi is one of the oldest Department of the University. With the aims of promoting Marathi Language and Culture and also study of its history. The department has remained the centre of various literary and research activities. Several notable scholars and critics are attach with the dept. as faculty, Guest Faculty and past students.
The Department has planned for having separate building in future. Due to the limited space, student cannot use the rich collection of the books and reference materials. The future complex his going to be used as a centre for Marathi language, Literature and Culture. There is plan for library, seminar hall and separate cubicles for research fellows etc. Today we need full pledged staff, more resource is for maintenances and development of the same.
