ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Studies in Economics was established in the year 1955. It completed 65 years of its functioning.  The Department offers courses in MA in Economics and M.Phil/Ph.D. in Economics.  M.A in Economics is also offered at the University Constituent and Affiliated colleges.  Recently the Applied Research the University has established Dr. D.M. Nanjudappa Centre for Applied Research in Economics (DMN-CARE) to undertake research and organise conference/special lectures/panel discussions on the issues of public finance and policy.

The teachers of the Department were also associated with the Karnataka State Tax and Revenue Reform Committees and the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission in various capacities. The Department has been awarded the UGC-SAP (DRS-I & II) by the UGC, New Delhi.
