ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Post-Graduate Studies in Mathematics was established in the year 1958.  Within a very short span of time this Department was turned into a very good teaching and research centre in Mathematics imparting advanced knowledge of Mathematics.  Advanced topics like Topology, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Functional Analysis, Algebra, Differential Geometry, Differentiable Manifolds, Graph Theory, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Wavelet Analysis, Nevanlinna Theory are introduced as part of the courses.  The Department is offering M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in Mathematics.  Faculty members are involved in teaching and research. The Department has got the UGC SAP and FIST support. It is also supported with NBHM Library grant. The Department of Mathematics was instrumental in introducing and developing the Computer Science courses at PG and UG levels and initiated the establishment of the Department of Computer Science at K.
