Profile

The Department of Urdu and Persian was started in 1945 in the Karnatak College Campus, Dharwad under the Bombay Presidency and upgraded in 1970 as a Post-Graduate Department.

Vision

To develop the Department to be a Model Centre of Excellence in imparting qualitative knowledge of Urdu and Persian languages and literature through research and extension activities.

Mission

To promote young scholars and researchers to take up their profession with academic commitment and to impart basic knowledge of Arabic and Persian language to the students who seek jobs in Middle-East countries. To give exposure and encouragement to students to study and take up responsible jobs in academics and administration.
