PROJECT WORK :
The five-year course offered by the University College of Law Dharwad, mainly aims at achieving proficiency in all the aspects of legal studies. Apart from the usual academic practises aspects such as seminars & examinations, project work has also been included in the range of courses offered. The project work or allied assignments form a vital part of the academics. It aims at training the students in research techniques & also the ability to collect and sift information on a particular aspect. Thus assignments or projects have been made non optional. Projects are assigned in all the subjects offered except languages through out the five-years course. The subjects on which projects are assigned relate to the syllabus being offered in a particular year. The number of projects assigned depends on the papers studied in a particular semester. The faculty, teaching concerned subject, assigns each a specific topic, on which the student is expected mandatorily to submit his/her project. The assistance or guidance of the faculty may be sought in the completion of the project. The marks allotted on the project or assignments submitted are pooled in to the total marks of the particular subject. Out of a grand total of 100 marks, 25 marks are assigned for the project, 15 marks being allotted for the printed/typed submissions &10 marks for the presentation of the topic. The projects, so assigned, must be submitted on or before the last working day of the semester. The projects are evaluated on the basis of the information or material gathered, the depth or intensity of the research made, on the references so made, the manner in which the collected information is arranged & on the ability of the candidate to analyse the subject. Thus the projects & assignments aim at improving research techniques, the ability to cull information & the ability to arrange & interpret information.
