|

About the Center: University Science Instruments Center (USIC) is a multi-purpose cluster of sophisticated analytical instruments serving the community of research scholars and faculty over thirty years and is at level III as per UGC recommendation. The Center offers services for carrying out advanced scientific research and is backed by qualified and dedicated technical staff (Table 1). The number of instruments (see Table 2) cover wide ranging disciplines from physical, chemical, biological and earth sciences; others include nanoscience, materials science, biotechnology, pharmacology, medical and agricultural sciences. Besides offering services, production and distribution of liquid nitrogen, repair and servicing of small instruments are also done at the Center. Students and faculty of Karnatak University as well as outside colleges and universities regularly visit the Center for measurements.
PURSE Program at USIC: Recognizing Karnatak University as one among fourteen in the country for its performance in research (with its h-index at 30), the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, sanctioned PURSE Program at Rs 9.00 cr for augmenting instrumental facilities at USIC in order that comprehensive and advanced research in frontier areas would be pursued by research scholars and faculty. Implementing PURSE in the year 2009 at USIC, four instruments (see Table 2) at a cost of Rs 2.4 cr have been procured and installed. Some more instruments such as SEM, AFM, Raman spectrometer, High-resolution IR, TCSPC (for fluorescence), PCR, Flow cytometer and so on will be procured.
Note to Users: With the available technical staff and financial resources, our endeavor is to offer best service to users. Services for outside users are charged. The users, whether they are from Karnatak University or outside, are to contact the office/staff for details. We offer no postal services nor concession in rates to outside users.
Citation is Mandatory: All the users (research scholars, faculty or others) should acknowledge USIC including instrument(s) used in their publication(s), dissertation, thesis or any other form.
Wishing you the best of time at USIC
